Noon Optimist Newsletter - September 26, 2002 Presidents Corner Hello
Optimists, First off a special thank you to Ken Walton for showing outstanding
leadership as President Elect. Second we’ve completed another exciting
Optimist project, the Iowa Sate Pedal Tractor Pull Championship, Saturday,
Sept 7th. This was a great one day activity for kids and families that come from
all over the state of Iowa and surrounding areas. Whether you are registering
the young tractor pullers, my favorite thing to do, or helping out serving food
or taking tickets,
this is a neat project to be involved in. Thanks
to Bob Wenner and his committee for putting on a great event Third,
make sure to get your reservation in for the installation banquet.
It’s scheduled for Wednesday evening, Oct. 2nd.
It would be great if all the members and spouses or VIP’s (any family
members are also welcomed) would attend to be supportive of those who have
stepped forward this year to help lead our club.
This is a time for giving sell deserved recognition to committee chairs,
also those doing special duties behind the scenes, and last but not least, the
club officers. The new leadership
for next year will also be installed. A
very special thanks to all of the noon optimists who have stepped forward to
serve our club this year and are willing to serve in a committee chair or
officer position this year. Finally, on a more personal, yet optimistic note, John and I are finally getting possession of a house on Friday, yes that’s Friday the 13th. The first house fell through when if failed both the septic and water inspection. We felt those were pretty important and necessary items. So we started a new house search. The new house is much smaller, cottage style, in town, yes in town. But with a large yard and an interesting address: 3813 Waldo Blvd. Manitowoc, WI 54220. No I haven’t found Waldo yet (remember those popular kids books?) Email: jmreimers@lakefield.net. It’s
also been great to find that there are active noon optimists here in Wisconsin
as well. I’ll write you more
about that in the future. Keep
sharing the Optimism!! Mary Reimers - President Marshalltown Optimist Club Schedule

(Personal
Growth and Involvement) Has everyone looked at their Passport lately? Are you ready to advance to the next level?
Have you read "Of Dreams and Deeds" about the history of the
Optimist Club? If you have, I don't know about it. I need to report an update to the District at the end of the
year, and would be delighted to report an advance of 20 levels.
Many of you have already qualified for the first 2-3 levels, and you new
members can do this very quickly as well. Please
let me know of your progress, so we can get it recorded. We also
get Awards points at the district for each new level achieved.
Look at your cards, and let me know where I can help. - Sean Ervin, PGI Chair Pedal
